Set within an executive subdivision just north of Bolton, Ontario, is a picturesque seven-acre suburban site, complete with rolling hills, a two-acre forest to the west and extended views to the south.

This large, two-storey house is positioned just below a ridge, visually submerged into the ground, and thereby giving it privacy from the subdivision and adjacent access road. This house has three programmatically different wings: living/kitchen/guestrooms, master bedroom/ensuite/office and garage/shop, which, when put together, resemble the letter “T” in plan.

The meandering driveway ends at a gravel forecourt defined by low slung copper roofs with stepped soffits and stone walls with very few windows. Inside the house, from the foyer, stairs descend into a sunken living room, where floor to ceiling wood windows provide breathtaking views of the rural landscape beyond. From this open planned living area, all three wings can be accessed, as well as the stone paved terrace, at the rear of the house.
